Rife developed an interest in comedy at the age of 14 after participating in a high school talent show. Encouraged by the positive response, he began performing professionally at 15. He has four siblings: three older stepsisters and one younger half-sister. His father, Michael Eric Gutzke, passed away when Rife was 17 months old, and he was primarily raised by his mother, April Rife.
